Being confined to your home during this COVID-19 lockdown sure made you realize how adventurous your babies can be! Indeed, these little beings LOVE to open cupboards and cabinets and explore what is inside, and that is very rarely something they should have access to! We are talking sharp utensils, detergent, bleach, heavy items, rope, tools, matches, electronic equipment, and so many other things you do not want them to play with. Instead of constantly watching and running after them, a very ingenious solution is to install cabinet locks so that those areas are closed off and your babies remain safe. Here are the available options for those cabinet locks, from least to most interesting. 1. The least interesting option are plastic straps that go over your cabinet doors. This is not the best looking design, as it makes your cabinets look awful. It is, however, the cheapest option. 2. Another option are cabinet locks that go inside your cabinet, so are not visible from the outside, and that have a button mechanism to open them by slightly pulling on the cabinet door and then finding that button. This is the second cheapest option but there are several reports of babies figuring out how to open those locks! 3. The best option by far are Magnetic Cabinet Locks. Only slightly more expensive than mechanical ones, these locks are also hidden from the outside, but the main advantage is that they require a magnetic key to open them from the outside. So if your children don’t have access to that key, there is no chance they will open the cabinet door. There is a great kit, sold by DLux, that offers you 12 locks, 2 keys, and an extra bonus of 4 corner guards to protect your baby’s head from sharp table corners. There are many magnetic cabinet locks out there, but the DLux kit uses Ultra Strength Acrylic Tape, by far the strongest adhesive on the market.
