The Raindrop Plastic Drinking Fountain is easy to use and easy to clean. Modern raindrop shape compliments décor of any room. Replaceable charcoal filter so your pet can enjoy clean and pure, healthy water. Its 60 oz capacity reduces the number of daily refills.
All fountains come with a filter for initial set-up and usage. Depending on the number of pets and water hardness, it is recommended to change filters approximately every 2 to 4 weeks. Regular filter changes help to ensure the freshest water available for pets.
For optimal performance we also recommend that you clean the fountain once a week and disassemble/clean the pump once a month.
The Raindrop Features
12V Pump & Transformer
Universal pump and transformer compatible with most Pioneer Pet drinking fountains. Cord length is 70.8". Adjustable lever located on the front panel of the pump regulates the rate of water flow. Our pump is UL listed and approved for underwater use.
Charcoal Filter
All of our fountains come with a filter for initial set-up and usage. This allows your pet to have clean and healthy water! Simply rinse the filter under cool water (to get rid of any loose charcoal). Replace the filter approximately every 2 to 4 weeks to ensure the freshest water available for pets.
Easy to Assemble and Clean
The Raindrop is dishwasher safe and easy to assemble, and its durable plastic construction allows for easy cleaning. If you ever have some build up just use white vinegar to soak the non-electrical parts in.
Adjustable Flow Switch
The lever located on the front panel of the pump regulates the rate of flow.
The maximum or “+” creates the strongest flow.
The minimum or “-” creates the mildest flow.
Starting at the lowest setting is recommended.
Setting the lever at the maximum setting can cause splashing.
How to clean your pump...
For the longevity of your fountain pump cleaning is essential. Please do the following 1-3 times per month depending on number of animals using the fountain.
1. Unplug.
2. Disassemble and rinse impeller under water.
3. Clear any hair or debris inside pump away.
4. Place impeller back in and spin a few times to set alignment.
5. Reassemble.

First, let me state that I have 5 cats. About 10 years ago my cats got sick due to their water bowl; all five and that wasn''t fun. My vet told me to use a pet fountain and since then I have. I have two running in different areas of the house to make sure the cats have adequate water. I am sure to fill the water fountains with filtered water, etc. I have had no issues since with my cats getting sick due to their water bowl.
Now, comes into play what is the right pet fountain to use. Well, to be honest I have probably tried them all. I just donated six to Goodwill last week in fact. Throughout these past ten years I have tried 12 different ones. They varied in sound, size, shape, spout, water flow, etc...
What brought me to this pet fountain was the fact that I had one pet water fountain that kept leaking. You walked by and for no reason whatsoever the carpet is wet. It happened so often it eventually stained the carpet, etc. Not to mention I hate being woken up in the middle of the night because you can hear the motor overworking when the water level is low...so, I became determined to find a replacement.
What I like about this pet fountain is it is ceramic and not plastic. So, that part was a no brainer. My cats only eat from stainless steel bowls as well. However, I did wonder if the cats would drink out of it as they tend to drink from where the water flows out of fountain spout than the actual basin and this pet fountain is structured completely different.
The second selling point for me was the ease of cleaning. I clean the pet water fountains once a week, that is 104 cleanings a year times 10 years...Every single pet fountain I have used in the past is a pain to clean...there are so many crevices that you simply cannot reach to clean and if you put plastic in the dishwasher you are technically poisoning your pets, so hand washing is the only option. It is a chore until TODAY! Wow, this is so easy to clean, no crevices I mean it is really easy to clean. I actually don''t dread cleaning the pet fountain anymore. I wish I would have tried this a lot sooner. Though it gets better. With five cats you can imagine that cat hair that will get caught in the motor and yes it does. I have long hair cats. With all previous pet fountains you have to do a thorough cleaning weekly (sometimes bi-weekly) because the pet hair gets caught up in the motor and affects the operation of the pet fountain...well, you can imagine my surprise to find out that is really not the case with this pet fountain. Barely any hair gets in, nothing at all like before. The clam shaped housing for the motor for all intent and purposes protects the motor and prevents hair from clogging it. That equates to you don''t have to clean it that often. YES! Cleaning is even easier.
I do have to admit I read the reviews beforehand and people had stated to buy the white ceramic drinking fountain model over the other as you have more visibility in monitoring the fountain, etc. Let me tell you, white was the last color I wanted to buy, but it made sense as you can see if the water is dirty, the water level, etc. so I purchased the white model and I do not regret it. It is beyond easy to see the water level and if any dry food crumbs or anything else that should not be in the bowl is there it is 100% visible and you know when to change it out if need be.
Of course, I am more than elated to report the fact that this pet fountain does not leak, in fact it is physically impossible for it to leak which was another no brainer for me.
Now, for sound. Initially I thought it was louder than all the others I have ever had. Normally, you don''t really hear the pet fountains and if you do it is a faint drip nothing overbearing, but this one was louder than normal. You knew it was there. However, there is a switch on the motor that you can adjust the flow. Also, I discovered that if you fill the pet fountain up (close to the brim) it is quieter. So, now since doing both those things the pet fountain is quiet like the others I have had. Otherwise, it does have sound... though I have not once heard the motor overwork which is really nice. The water flow will get slightly louder when the water level is lower, but it is not disrupting or annoying like with the other water fountains where you hear the motor being overworked.
As for the cats, thank God they actual use it. I am not the only one that likes it LOL! I do have to admit at first the cats were like, what is this...but then again they do that with anything new. Oddly enough, each cat actually drinks from it differently. I have included a video of the sound with the water level low, the visibility of seeing what is in the pet fountain at all times and its water level, and the lack of sound with the water level high and the flow switch used. Needless to say, I will be replacing my other pet water fountain as well with this same model.
The only downside for me would be the filters. Can I easily get the filters at Pet Smart or Petco??? didn''t see them and those stores tend to all push the Drinkwell fountains, etc. however, for what you get which is a healthy, non messy, easy to clean, less hassle pet fountain this is a minor issue for me if I have to buy the filters online from here on out. Plus, you can buy a year worth of filters (10 pack) for $11 which is what I did. Usually, the other filters I had to use were four for $10 so I am saving money in the long run ordering the filters on Amazon for this pet water fountain.
It is tricky to open the clam shape housing but it gets easier each time you do it.
Overall the pet fountain kind of reminds me of a toilet bowl and I refuse to let my cats drink out of the toilet bowl so it is a win win scenario for us both.
Long story short, I LOVE IT.

DANGEROUS! Will ENDANGER your pets LIFE!!! I have never reviewed a product but had to in case this saves even one life. Assembled, was in use for two days by my dog and kitten when inexplicably the ceramic tip of the top piece broke off and VERY SHARP ceramic shards both large and tiny were then swirling around IN THEIR DRINKING WATER!!! Product had suffered NO IMPACT aside from my precious dog and kitten’s licking tongues! Luckily I was home so I know they weren’t subjected to the treacherous water for long but I DREAD to think about what could have happened if I were at work! DO NOT risk your pets life with this product! It should be removed from amazon and recalled from every pet owners home!

The fountain itself is lovely (easy to clean and soothing sound) -- mine has worked for well over a year. But, be aware that the pump and filter fit into what is a cheaply made plastic housing -- and the manufacturer does not offer a replacement when it wears out, which it will. After just over a year of constant use, I now have a lovely fountain, a good pump, but no housing in which to put the pump and filter. Pioneer sells brushes to clean the fountain, and you can buy a replacement pump (which you won''t need if you take it apart and clean it properly) but there is no housing replacement. When it goes bad, you may be out of luck. Shame on the manufacturer. And shame on Pioneer for only offering to sell me a new fountain for a small discount. What help is that???

I originally purchased this fountain in January 2017 and paid around what it''s priced currently on Amazon ($47). The fountain was a complete hit with our cats, and I quickly learned that a biweekly cleaning routine was enough to keep the fountain working properly.
All the parts aside from the pump get thrown in the dishwasher and come out clean. To clean the pump, I take it apart and gently scrub with warm soapy water and a toothbrush. I do this cleaning process every other week, or whenever there is food or dirt present in the water. The mfr. recommends changing the filter every 2-4 weeks, but based on my experience, I would say that with regular cleaning you can probably stretch the filter for a month and a half.
SERVICE HISTORY: -The top part was dropped at some point so the tip broke off, but that has not affected the function of the fountain. -One of the suction cup feet on the bottom of the plastic pump/filter enclosure broke off. We super glued it to reattach to the enclosure and it''s worked properly since. -The water pump went out after 2 1/2 years. It would intermittently stop working and make a horrific buzzing noise. I bought a new pump for $15 and have not had any issues since. -After 3 1/2 years, we began noticing a persistent leak. Thinking it was my cats playing with the water, or us overfilling it, I didn''t think too much at first. However, upon further inspection, I came to find that somehow there was a leak in the cord riser (tube shaped part on the base). Tried using super glue to stop the leak but that only worked temporarily. Contacted Pioneer Pet direct and a customer rep quickly got back to me. They informed me that they can send me a new base for $15 + shipping. Hopefully this new base can give me many more solid years of use.
SUMMARY: Considering my total investment into the fountain, my overall impression is mostly positive with some skepticism. This is probably not the right product for you if you aren''t willing to take the pieces apart and clean them regularly. My approach is that this is more like an aquarium or water feature than a pet bowl. I don''t know if I''d call it a bargain as you can fill a bowl with water and give that to your pets for $0, but if you''re in the market for a fountain and willing to spend a bit of money, I would recommend this product as long as the buyer can commit to routine maintenance.
PROS: My pets love it and drink more water because of it. The sound of the water running is nice. Cleaning isn''t too bad. Assembly is mostly straightforward. The manufacturer offers the parts individually when they wear out. If you want to save some cash, off-brand replacement pumps and filters can be had for cheap. The pump uses very little power.
CONS: The parts will more than likely wear out. Build quality is not the best. Cord riser is thin and could potentially develop leak issues. Routine cleaning/maintenance can feel like a chore. Can be finicky to seat the parts correctly. Overall cost may be more than most are willing to spend.

I bought the ceramic version of Pioneer Raindrop Drink Fountain 1.5 years ago. I liked it but it developed a leak that we couldn’t find and I would expect a product of this type to last longer than that. I did like it well enough to buy the stainless steel version. The stainless steel version is designed differently which I don’t know if it is because it is newer or just the difference between the two fountains.
Pros of both ceramic and stainless versions: • Quiet
Pros of ceramic: • Very classy looking
Pros of stainless over ceramic: • Hole where power cord through is separated from water unlike the ceramic version. I believe that may be the point of our leak. (See photos) • Channel into fountain from top is cut deeper in stainless. On the ceramic version, the top had to be positioned exactly right in order for it not to overflow the side which was a pain. (See photos) • Stainless is much lighter to lift and easier to carry when full of water for taking to the sink to clean.

The vertical design of the filter means that water does not get sucked in to the filter side of the bowl. (As in, water gets stuck behind the filter, never making it to the pump). It results in terrible noises constantly. You have to take the top off, pull the filter up to let water through, replace top; pretty much every few hours if that. Also if you have hard water it is impossible to clean the residue off. Invest in the ceramic fountain, don''t buy this just because it saves some money because it''s a waste in the long run.
We have 3 of the ceramic fountains (office, mom, and myself all have one) and all of the 6 cats involved love it.
BIG TIP: if you have hard water, buy the gallon of purified water at the store. It saves the fountain and pump from hard water build up making it much easier to clean; also wash at least once a week to avoid mildew.

1. It is a cinch to clean & unlike plastic you know for sure that it is absolutely 100% clean with no left over residues stuck because the bowls surface cannot trap contaminates like plastic will. 2. It looks great in any room and goes with just about any decor. I hide the cord with cat friendly planter like wheat grass or catnip as shown in the video. 3. The motor is silent unless it is running low on water or after you just fill it up. After a fill up I just unplug it for a split second and plug it right back in. The noise instantly goes away. 4. The cats love it and it brings a little interest to their day as they love the moving water and sound of the trickling plus the moving water prevents bacteria build up. 5. I also love the sound of the trickling. It sounds like a stream is in my kitchen and it’s very soothing. 6. Easy to assemble and easy to take apart to thoroughly clean which I do about once a week. More if the cats are particularly ornery & play in it too much getting it dirty. 7. To the best of my ability I researched this product and it seems to be safe or as safe as anything can possibly be these days. Far safer than the still water that sat in the plastic dish previously that’s for sure.
I highly highly recommend this product until I have a reason not to. So far so good but I will always come back and update my reviews if there is reason too.
Oh & I wouldn’t use just regular tap water in this because of the motor. Spring water or distilled unless you have a high quality water filtration system for your home then that would probably be okay too. You can use tap water but I’m thinking it would cause issues in the long term.

This is my 3rd Raindrop Fountain - not because they haven''t worked, but because I couldn''t settle on the style I/my kittens liked best. I started with the black ceramic, but it made finding bits of kibble difficult so I gave it away when the stainless steel version arrived. That version was light weight, but the hard water in Dallas left white deposits that I couldn''t get to come off - for me, it needed to look shiny and new - for my little boy kitten, it needed to withstand his putting his metal springs in it... the top portion turned out to be too light and I woke up one morning to a water incident that left the fountain almost out of water, the top part akimbo, and a nice lagoon under the fountain and food bowl. Thankfully I had just switched the may to one that absorbed, so the drama was minimized. I decided I needed to go back to the weight of the ceramic... and stumbled across the white version. SUCCESS! It stays clean looking - I can quickly spot swimming kibble - and spring play does not result in a floor soaking. It is considerably heavier than the stainless version - but if you need a sturdy fountain this could be the one for you!

Amazon sent replacement. Replacement was not as quiet as original (quite loud, to be honest). Then the replacement broke within a month! I have now ordered a small pump from China, to use in it, as the drinking fountain was really popular with the cats and dogs. Origial review below: ------------------------------------ Well... approved by two of the kitties anyway. :) And out of the feline gang, they were the two we got the fountain for (the two of them used to be obsessed with drinking of the sink). It''s much bigger than anticipated (never took any notice of the size), but also looks smarter in real life than what it did on the product desciption. Seriously easy to get up and running - make sure the pump is placed in the correct location, place the white lid on top. Fill with water, then plug it in. Done! If no water is coming up on the top, remove the lid, and make sure the pump is hitting the lid where it''s supposed to. The two cats that use it, both drink from the flowing water, and from the bottom pool. Both dogs also love it, and will happily drink from either the pool, or from the top. Nice and quiet too, just a relaxing sound of the water (normally I remove sound from videos, but left it here, so you can listen). As it goes empty, you will hear the pump, when it gets exposed, and no longer covered by water, but it''s just to top it up. The fountain itself doesn''t make any mess either - no water splashing anywhere as it''s running, or the cats drinking from it... when it comes to the dogs however, that''s a whole other story... as per usual they''ll slurp like crazy, toungues flicking water, their whole faces getting covered, and water dripping all over the place. However, cannot blame that on the fountain, the dogs does exactly the same with their regular drinking bowls too. :)9 people found this helpfulReportCrystal922.0 out of 5 starsVerified PurchaseNoisy, messy and burns out very quickly.Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 7, 2017

That one lasted a few months before also dying and this time I was very particular in making sure it never ran low and it was no longer in the conservatory. It would get noiser and noiser until I found I had to turn it off to be able to hear the TV at a normal volume and its spluttering would scare my cats away from drinking from it and make a huge mess. In the end I just went to my local pet store and bought a totally different fountain from there and it already is much quieter, tidier and the cats prefer it but time will tell. -- original review: It makes some weird spluttering noises, even if it is full of water and there is a low somewhat annoying hum all the time but other than that it has been great! I kind of was expecting the noise as it is a motor and there is going to be times when the pump does something odd or sucks in some air somehow. My cats are using it, there is little-to-no splashing and the water still looks clean. The cable isn''t massively long, but I have oddly placed sockets which exacerbate it a lot - if the socket was on the floor it wouldn''t be as much of an issue (although obviously don''t put this water fountain next to a plug! It was pretty easy to put together too so all in all i''m pretty happy with my purchase! One person found this helpfulReportClare Hill5.0 out of 5 starsVerified PurchaseMy cats love it and it''s easy to cleanReviewed in the United Kingdom on December 3, 2020

One is a former stray, she drinks a lot of water and often sits or lies by the water bowl as if she''s afraid it will disappear. When I get a jug of water for myself she gets excited and I have to put some in her bowl, even if it is full. The capacity of this water fountain is great as I know she won''t run out of water. She now proudly sits by her little waterfall and drinks from the bowl part, and my other cat likes the fountain. It is very subtle as far as fountains go, which suits both of my cats. I do have to keep the water level high or it gets really noisy, so my thirsty girl gets the excitement of me topping up with the jug every day! Easy to take apart/put back together again. Simple construction aids ease of use. I easily changed over pump motor to UK one. Rinsed filter as instructed before use(to save any bits of black carbon laying in the bottom of the fountain). Put filter in position (with white side facing waterbowl, black side facing motor unit). Replaced lid and filled with water. Took a little moving about on the floor to get the best position to save any vibrating noises... and then all fine... Pets had no problem accepting items. Noise occurs if the fountain is not filled up to limit-including animals depleating water levels by drinking from fountain-so top up is required to combat any vibrating noise which might occur. Once this is sorted out... AND make sure the motor is suctioned to the base properly with its small suction pads(pads already in place)... there is v little noise. Early days but at this price(i noticed the price of the replacement filters has gone up from £2.99 per pack to £15.99 or thereabouts ... eeeeek! on Amazon.. but there are other outlets which offer these filters at the reasonable under £5.00 for 3 methinks) im happy with my purchase. I think additional motors can also be purchased on the alternative site where I found the filters at the more reasonable price. Amazon gave me the best price, at this time, on the units-happy to buy 2 units as other makes were more than the price of these two put together Instructions for cleaning/periodical change of filter are very clear. conclusion: =quiet device when set up properly and maintained with correct water level =take away other source of water and pets happy to use ... health benefits outweigh any change in routine to pets :)) will update if i find subsequent use impairs quality.6 people found this helpfulReportMAF20135.0 out of 5 starsVerified Purchase2-pin and 3-pin pumps in the box, flow control, its quiet and doesn''t splash outReviewed in the United Kingdom on January 17, 2015

He was using the bowl side to drink from to start with but has started drinking from the fountain a bit more now. Every now and again he still sits in the sink for a drink, though. Its easy to take apart for cleaning. The filter pulls right out for rinsing. Its not as noisy as I thought it might be. I have it in my bedroom and its not quiet enough to sleep with it on but its only a low hum. You have to make sure the water is at the minimum level which is pretty much almost full (up to the white section), otherwise it does make it louder. Setting it on a cloth stops any slashes - especially since my cat seems to think its a paddling pool - and reduces the noise even more if its on a wooden floor. The general running of it doesn''t splash out of the unit. If it does the pump has a flow control letting you reduce or increase the flow, if it does splash out just turn it down. Mine came with two pumps, one with a 2-pin plug and another with a 3-pin plug and adapter. Im extremely happy with it and for the price I think its great value.3 people found this helpfulReport
