One of them, Howie, age 8, has had IBS in recent years - messy backend several times a week and vomiting food several times a week. I received something in the mail from Blue Diamond advertising Blissful Belly. I had always heard good things about Blue Buffalo. In fact, the rescue league my mom adopted her cats from made feeding it a criteria of adoption. So I thought, "very expensive but Howie is worth every penny if it makes him more comfortable." I did the gradual integration as recommended. Once it became the majority of the proportion (75 Blue Diamond Blissful Belly/25 Purina One Sensitive System), "Howie" stopped eating and just picked at his food for 2 days, then not eating at all and that is when he began limping. His mobility deteriorated and he ran a high fever - 103.9 - 105+ - two visits to the vet in 3 days, then one to the emergency clinic on Labor Day, under suspicion of liver failure, they did blood work. Results were good except the bilirubin number. Clearly, his high temperature and behavior indicated his body was fighting something out of nowhere - the only change was this expensive, "healthier" food. He went on a powerful antibiotic, had iv fluids twice in three days and somehow pulled through it. He was diagnosed "Fever of Unknown Origin". Here I am three weeks after he seems "normal" again and ready to stop his short term recovery prescription diet food, one day after reintroducing the mix of food (Purina One 25%, Blue Diamond Blissful Belly 75%), he is not eating and this evening he has started limping again. This is made me search the internet that led me to Amazon reviews on other Blue Diamond catfood products where others have shared remarkably similar experiences. The food is being dumped as soon as I finish typing this review and I too, will return to trustworthy Purina One. Admittedly, there are many very happy with Blue Diamond but there seems to be a certain percentage of us with cats experiencing extremely adverse and in some cases lethal reactions. After some trial and error, this one turned out to be the best one available!

She''s been on it for a couple of months and has not had a single diarrhea since, her coat looks great, she no longer meows loudly after meals and there has been no blood in the stool since. It''s amazing how well this formula works. She also gets the dry food version and loves both. Our new kitten sneaks in to steal some of her food as well, so it must taste good to them.

He had now gone from vomiting as much as a dozen times a week, to puking once in the last three weeks (caused by chunky food. Pate''s are easier to digest.). I can finally shampoo my rugs again once per month instead of every week. Omt, when he does groom himself he''s almost adamant about it, so I stick a glob of cat laxative right into his mouth (avoiding his licking in even more hair). He hates it until he realises that it''s tasty. Then it''s okay. This works for me. Water is the answer.
