Beyond that, the desktop is particle board that comes in two pieces, meaning it has a rough surface not ideal for writing on and there is a seam running down the length of the desk right in the middle.

I couldn''t find anything better for the price and didn''t want to go with the manual crank ones from ikea as I read they become a nuisance over time and people just stop using them. The desk lifts fairly easily and even with the 80 lb of monitors that I have on it, it doesn''t hesitate. The operation is fairly quite (can be used when other are sleeping) and it gets to it''s full hight in about 20 seconds which is quite fast. I''m 6''3" and had no issues with the height, though I guess you could always buy longer rubber feet for it too have it rise a bit higher or maybe use hockey pucks or something. During my work shift I spend about 5 hours still sitting and 2 hours standing up. I find it best after having lunch to stand for about an hour tonler food digest better. It was packaged well but one of the strapping bands ripped through the box (it''s very heavy). Although that didn''t do any damage to anything I did notice a fairly faint scratch running across one of the table boards (it comes in 2 sections). The boards were packaged well in styrofoam so I''m not sure where the scratches came from, it must have happened in the factory. That didn''t really bother me since I''m using a tabletop cover anyway. I drilled a hole through the middle back part to put my monitors in and secured it from underneath with a piece of 2x4 that I screwed to the bottom of the desk. It did smell kind of weird when I drilled it (kinda like a fish smell) and noticed the core that I drilled out had bits of plastic in it. So I''m guessing the particle board has some sort of laminate plastic bits in it which isn''t really a big deal anyway but don''t expect solid wood for this price. If you''re not happy with the two-piece table topper, you could always buy your own table top at Ikea or something and just fix it to the top of this desk. The other slight issue I had was with the location of the controller button switch. It''s a little bit too much to the left so I hit it with the armrest of my chair a few times. I ended up removing it and just sticking it further to the right with some double-sided tape so it''s not it in the way constantly. Overall I''m very pleased with this desk and would definitely recommend it to friends and family. 4 people found this helpful
