One day we folded the crate to take it with us to visit family a couple hours away but decided not to bring it since they said they had one. We got back home opened it back up and it was broken in a couple places where it was welded together. It literally just came apart at the weld points in a way that made the crate unusable. I will say folding and opening it was smooth and easy, though we only unfolded it upon receiving it and then folded it to take but changed our minds so unfolded it when we got back so we didn’t do it but once but the one time we did it wasnt a struggle. Thankfully we were able to return it and the seller did give us a full refund so A+++ on customer service. The crate however is of very poor quality. Helpful

He managed to escape from confinement a few times but my husband and I chalked that up to our carelessness. He didn''t out grow it but we felt he was trained to the point where confinement was no longer needed. We sold thcage and that was that. Months later we get an American Bulldog puppy. Fully anticipating a 90 pound adult dog in th enot so distant future we feverishly search for a replaca of the cage mentioned above. I looked online and found best pet dog creat and we were certain that this cage would suit my 45 pound puppy well into adulthood. Skeptical but in love with the price ($76 including shipping) we purchased it. It arrived in no time flat (hats off to the seller) AND blew the previous cage out of the water. i admit, it is a bit more cage than she needs now but the features are awesome. The latches have hooks that prevent the intelligent puppy from escaping and most of all my 145 pound mastiff can lay and stand in the cage with great comfort and ease. He did have to duck his head while he sat but its not his cage so its not a concern. In conclusion, my 6 year old son, 45 pound puppy and the Mastiff were all in the cage COMFORTABLY. My dogs are not crate-destroyers, we tend to use crates for 7-10 years until they start to get a bit of rust on the hinges from being washed & cleaned. I made a very large purchase of several of these crates for traveling purposes, and within DAYS- yes DAYS- they were falling apart. Entire vertical wires fell off. The slightest bit of "messing with" by the dogs made the wires bend and give way, and in several cases- break off into their crate (a HUGE hazard if they were to swallow it!). I first patched the resulting holes, but it was hopeless. Not only did these fall to pieces, but even worse, they TAUGHT my dogs to test the strength of their crates to see if they could get out. I had to let each of my dogs spend a little time in my good strong wire crates from other, popular-for-a-reason brands to re-learn respect for crates. One dog, who had NEVER damaged a crate before (but who was loose when I got home from work one day because her "Best Pet" crate fell apart) really took Best Pet''s lesson to heart, and now she cannot be crated in a wire crate at all because she KNOWS that they will eventually give way. These were among my Top 5 Worse Purchases in my life. I have purchased most of them on Amazon from various sellers, including Amazon. This crate is by far cheaper quality than all of my other crates. The wires are smaller, easily bent by a medium size dog that wanted out. The opening on the bottom front does not allow my to slide the tray in and out, so it has to go through the door! The 2 latches on the front door are so cheap and flimsy that they have added a bend to the end of the piece that slides to keep it from opening and that is an additional pain to deal with multiple times per day. I took the crate outside to wash it off with a hose and it fell apart. The crate simply does not put together in a nice firm manner like all our other crates. I thought a dog that really moved around and messed with the wires could cause it to collapse while they are inside it, so I reinforced it with tie straps in every side to be safe. I would give this crate a zero star as it is junk.

Also, beware of sellers who price this at $13.99 plus $36.97 shipping as you may be paying the same $51 either way, if you were to return it, you would get the short end of the stick! 6 people found this helpful Helpful

The reason it gets a second star is because if you are just trying to provide housing for a very small dog or two (less than 15 lbs?) it would probably be just fine. Anything with any muscle can destroy it though. This cage could probably fit a dog up to 70 lbs if they were a ''compact'' type, and not a very tall type.... yet my 35 lbs mixed breed destroyed it the first time they were locked in.

And, I''ve read other reviews about people whose dogs chewed their way out of this kennel. I can certainly see how if a person were to put a full grown Rottweiler (for example) into this kennel, and that dog were not accustomed to being in a kennel, that the dog could chew his way out. But, for the crate training of my puppy, this has worked very well. The first few nights, she barked and whined and tried to shove her way out of the gate (nose first) and she ended up with a little scabby mess on either side of her nose. So, we picked up a medal clip at Home Depot to further secure the door shut, this solved the problem. My only real gripe about this kennel is the flimsy latch system of the gate. I have to fiddle with each handle, jimmy it back and forth to get it open and shut. It''s a pain. But, hey, am I really gonna buy another one (more money undoubtedly) and then go thru the hassle of packaging up this huge kennel and returning it? No. I''ll live.

Following all the recommendations on getting a new puppy accustomed to crate training, our puppy now loves her kennel. If I''m gone during the day for a short bit, she goes into the kennel and often has no interest in leaving when I return and open the door. Overall, this was a good purchase, esp. considering the price. I laughed at the handle on top. This thing is so big it won''t even fit thru the doorway of the room it''s in. I am in rescue so I have a lot of experience with crates, and this one is about as mid quality as it can get. I have used better and worse.

The crate comes with 2 doors, one on the side and one on the end. This has advantages and disadvantages at the same time.
The side door is slightly smaller height wise by about an inch and half. It''s enough for me to notice as it rubs on the back of both newfies and our mastiff mix as they enter and exit. That doesn''t occur when they enter or exit from the end door.

The latches for the doors provide a positive lock through the use of a bent hook on the sliding part.
The construction is slightly lighter, using thinner wires for the vertical wires, than other comparable sized crates, but I''ve seen thinner. It is enough that I wouldn''t trust this with a dog that I don''t know about their crate training. A determined dog could get through the wires by bending.

I do rescue, and this would never hold up to any of the rescues I have in my care. I will be buying another heavier duty crate after the holidays for her, but this has to last until then. This might be wonderful if you are fostering a mother cat and kittens, because it can easily fit a small litter pan and an area for the kittens....
