See more Bought theses seeking sturdy rulers for garden and home workshop use. They arrived quickly and seem quite think and are twice as thick as a cork-backed $3, 12” Wescott stainless ruler I also purchased for this comparison exercise.

The markings seem to be nicely recessed filled with black paint and I am unable to scratch marks off with fingernail. The 6” ruler has one rule line with a break in the line but all in all the markings seem like they will last. They are marked in inches and centimeters with parts of the scale subdivided further to 16ths, 32s, 64s “ mm and half mm. There are inch and fraction of inch to mm conversion tables on back of each. Top of the 15” rule is marked “stainless hardened” which is interesting because this is only one of the 3 that seems to rapidly be collecting scratches. There is a convenient hole in end of each for hanging.

Now the not-so-good:
- the 15 inch rule is collecting an impressive number of scratches considering it has just been sitting on the kitchen counter. Maybe scratches there already from factory but these are shipped in a nice individual protective sleeve.
- all have some form of tooling marks or evidence of burrs being filed off during mfg process. Not bad, just noticeable.
- edges and corners are not what I would call sharp but they are definitely not rounded and edges show die marks from the msg process.
- scale starts at edge of ruler which might not be a problem for some but it means that routine wear and tear will eventually render the first inch inaccurate.
- the much cheaper but lighter weight Wescott 12” rule that I also purchased for this exercise has none of the scratch or rough edge problems.
- 15” ruler arrived with a slight bow and doesn’t lay perfectly flat.
- the inch-to-decimal mm conversion tables on the back to 5 decimals make no sense (to me anyway) considering the markings on the scales on front provide two way conversion. An inch fraction to decimal inch conversion would be far more useful to me anyway.

I think these are good value and will nicely do the job but when it comes time to replace am going to look for a thicker version of the Wescott. Both the metal quality and the manufacturing seem measurably better.

I checked the accuracy with a good digital caliper. The 12"& 15" were accurate to ~ .05 mm the closest I could do. This was true for BOTH the scales themselves & using the flat end of the ruler as zero. The etching was marvelous. Everything was etched all lines, words & numbers on both sides (rulers vary -some things etched others only painted- which wears off quickly). The 12" & 15" are .9mm thick, (slightly flexible) the 6" is .82mm thick. Zero for both mm & inch scales start at the same end which I like very much. Scale fine line markings offer a variety of choices for close detail although for the smaller scales a ruler is probably the wrong tool.
The 6" ruler scale markings themselves are accurate BUT using the end of the ruler as zero it is off by ~.5mm. The 12 & 15" are ~28.2mm wide. The 6" is 19.4mm wide & more flexible. The edges are cut very cleanly & squarely on all except the zero end of the 6". Overall superb & impressive quality. At $11 comparable to rulers costing 5 times more.

See more Check the accuracy on arrive if you need these for precise work. I bought to have some cheap rulers for woodworking. in my first order the 6" and 12" were around 1/64 long at the start of the ruler but all graduations were accurate so I just lapped them on my diamond stone to take the material off. The 15" was too short. I ordered a second set and the 15" was good out of that set, but the 12" was bad in that set. I kept the good ones and sent the bad ones back.

Others may not be as picky as me and find them all perfectly acceptable as is. You can''t complain too much at this price point though so that''s why I still gave 4 stars.

With consistent short measurements popping up more often. I compared the rules to other standard tape measures and craftsman rulers. Low and behold, these rulers are not identical to the ones I compared them to. They are inaccurate by almost 2mm, which explains alot when you use precise measurements. Good thing is they are straight . Now, I''m off to put father to bed in his new bed which is 3" shorter than it should be thanks to these rulers.
