We''ve had this set for less than three weeks and the markings are worn off so much that the measurements are unreadable in places on the 15-cm ruler. The protractor is pretty annoying because you cannot easily line up the vertex or the base line; it does not use the bottom edge as the base line and there are no holes through which one can align the figure on the page.

FYI, it is important to pay attention (which I failed to do) to the item in the description that says that the two, larger, triangular rulers are architect scale rulers. They are not standard rulers, and neither can be used to measure inches (although you can of course use 1:100 for measuring centimeters). One of the two scale rulers has scales 1:20, 1:25, 1:50, 1:75, 1:100, and 1:150 meters. The other has scales 1:100, 1:200, 1:250, 1:300, 1:400, and 1:500 meters. This is as advertised, of course, but was a surprise to me because I didn''t read that part carefully.

On the plus side, the metallic material does indeed seem durable and is lightweight as promised, and the set squares, protractor, and 15-cm ruler are nice and compact in their little plastic pouch. First, the triangular rulers do not have the measuring scale start right at the edge of the ruler. If you see on my photo, the straight ruler is horizontal, and right under a horizontal line so you can see it, though normally the ruler would be right next to that line as you draw. However, the triangular ruler when it''s set perpendicular to the ruler, the 0 mark isn''t even close to that horizontal line. Which means, I now how to account for that 3 or 4 mm before the 0mm mark to any measurement I make, or to place the horizontal ruler 3mm below the line so that the 0mm mark would be dead on the line. Neither is a good option when trying to draw accurate plans.
Second, the printing on the triangular rulers seems to be made only for left handed people. I usually hold both rulers with my left hand and draw lines with my right hand. Since the numbers are on only one side of the triangle and only on one of the faces, the only option is to use it as seen on the photo. The problem here is that my left hand will always be in the way while I try to draw.

There are far better options for rulers. Most notable was that the steel pieces also had multiple defects from production that kept them from sliding smoothly during use (some fine sandpaper was able to fix that).
Another gripe is that none of the pieces is laser etched, even though it may have a good paint job. It works fine for now but will wear off eventually.
